Adventurer & Pathfinder Camporee

Campers should not be wandering outside when scheduled events are going on. Campers are encouraged to participate in all events provided.

No adult leader, volunteer, pastor, instructor, or staff member should be alone in a private or isolated setting with an unrelated minor. At least two approved adults should be present when supervising minors.

Male and female minors must sleep in their designated areas. Boys may not enter girls' sleeping areas, cabins, tents, changing areas, or bathrooms, and girls may not enter boys' corresponding areas.

Adventurer staff are prohibited from sharing a tent or cabin with children who are not their own. No exceptions. Adventurers are not permitted to sleep in tents or cabins unsupervised. Neither are they permitted to share a tent or cabin with another child unless they are siblings and a parent, legal guardian, or designated family member is present. No exceptions.

Adventurers and Pathfinders should remain under appropriate club supervision throughout the Camporee. Children should not wander around the campground alone, especially after dark. Groups moving between activities should use a buddy/group system.

Counseling, prayer, mentoring, discipline, or private conversations between an adult and a minor should occur in an observable/open setting. Doors should remain open in accordance to the open-door policy. All counseling should be done by a licensed approved professional.

No inappropriate touching, prolonged embracing, massages, lap-sitting, sexualized behavior, horseplay involving private areas, or physical punishment is permitted. Children and youth have the right to communicate that they are uncomfortable with physical contact.

Boys and girls must use their respective designated facilities. Adults should respect minors' privacy while maintaining appropriate safety supervision. Photography or video recording is strictly prohibited inside bathrooms, showers, changing rooms, or sleeping areas while participants are dressing.

Sexual contact, sexual touching, exposing private body parts, sexual harassment, sexually explicit conversations/material, or sexual activity involving Camporee participants is prohibited. Any suspected sexual abuse or exploitation must be immediately reported to the security team.

Name-calling, threats, fighting, discriminatory harassment, cyberbullying, humiliating initiation activities, unwanted sexual comments, coercion, racial discrimination, intimidation, and hazing are prohibited. Leaders should intervene immediately rather than dismissing such behavior as joking or "kids being kids."

Adventurers should remain with their club/group and chaperones. Pathfinders traveling around the campground should remain in groups or with their assigned buddy and follow their Club Director's check-in procedures. No minor should leave the Camporee property without parental authorization and supervision.

After evening activities, minors should return directly to their assigned club/cabin/camping area. Once lights-out is announced, participants must remain in their assigned sleeping areas except for bathroom use, emergencies, or when accompanied/authorized by their leaders.

No adult should privately transport an unrelated minor away from Camporee without appropriate authorization except when necessary for an emergency. Seat belts and vehicle capacity requirements must always be followed.

Participants may not photograph, record, post, or share another participant in an embarrassing, partially dressed, private, bullying, or sexually suggestive situation.

The local church and club directors are responsible for ensuring that adults entrusted with supervising minors have completed the child-protection/background-screening requirements applicable to their ministry role. NAD guidance calls for volunteers supervising children to receive child-safety training and appropriate screening through Sterling Volunteers.

Any participant who experiences or witnesses suspected abuse, inappropriate touching, sexual misconduct, bullying, violence, threats, or another serious safety concern should immediately inform the authorities. We have a duty to report suspected child abuse according to law.

A missing Adventurer or Pathfinder must be reported immediately to the Club Director and Camporee Security. Leaders should not delay reporting while conducting an extended private search.

Injuries, allergic reactions, illnesses, or mental-health emergencies should be reported promptly to the Medical Services Nurse on Duty.
